The Gilfenklamm near Racines/Ratschings
Europe's only marble gorge
Any guests who spend their summer holiday with us at Hotel Seeber in Racines/Ratschings have the unique opportunity to visit the nearby Gilfenklamm. Near the hamlet of Stanga/Stange, the stream formed this gorge in the rock face, which is made of white marble.
The Gilfenklamm's roughly 200 m difference in altitude can be conquered easily over a track with bridges and steps, making this special gorge a great highlight for children in particular, the thundering stream, the spray and the waterfalls are simply thrilling!
You can hardly see the white marble as moss and lichen are growing on it making it look a grey green colour. Only where the masses of water have polished it can you see the white shimmer of the Gilfenklamm's precious rock, which can even be admired in famous buildings like the Hofkirche in Innsbruck or Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna.
Visit the captivating Gilfenklamm that is accessible from the start of May to the end of October. Children aged 4 and older can manage the walk of 45 to 60 minutes easily, as when it comes to water time flies by!
